If we're looking for acronyms am I right in assuming they are English acronyms?
The reason I ask is that the French for example have a habit of slinging adjectives at the end, which changes acronyms such as USSR.

Was Gad a dog, perhaps? Or some other non-human entity? A tank or plane, for example?
Or does Gad stand for
Geordie's auld Da?
Glamourous and divine?
Gargling after dinner?
Going AWOL daily?
Galahad, a daredevil?
Greek, Arab, Dutch?
