Hi, nice of you to consider joining you are only the second person so far, UG joined by onther thread. As you can see we are so young there is not much going on yet, but it should be good. Do we need a 'Boy Scout/Girl Guide' conversation?

Hi, Grumpy, I finally made it! Is this the place where we can remember the tin bath in front of the fire, the outside wc on a winter's night? How about the taste of acid-drop Spangles, frozen Jubblies and the penny caramel bar?

The memories are so diverse and varied that the possibilities are endless - let the good times roll - again...smiley - cool

Hi all! Marnoult here! Glad to see we're up and running.......well, maybe we used to be running, I'm taking a steady stroll, now. Born in 1945, I was the terror of the street with my roller skates and my STILTS !!! Wooden ones my Dad made, with wool wound round the top, so's not to hurt my hands!

Yep! I remember being practically the only kid with skates, certainly made friends that year! My Dad also made me a sort of bridge in wood, with different sized holes through which we had to roll marbles; the smallest hole was worth 10 of the other kid's marbles if it went through. The bigger the hole, the fewer marbles we won off the other kids! And who never played conkers in the Autumn? Cheaters use to "cook" their conkers to harden them! Aah, the simplicity of it all!!

My favourite sweets were black jacks 5 a penny n my mum's cakes were a hit or miss thing too, didn't get bananas in our custard just plain old lumps, yep them were the days smiley - smiley

I think the orange/yellow things were called "fruit salads" or something like that. But them and the blackjacks were a farthing each - hence only four for a penny. Someone in the shop must've had a soft spot for you!smiley - winkeye
