Oh you gave me a writing credit again. I blush.

Another nice succinct article. It obviously needs knowledge of NetHack to understand, so perhaps you could say your NH article should be read first or something. Also the bit about level draining would make little sense to the uninitiated, so I think you should either explain it or just say something like "some of the wands are very damaging to characters that cannot resist their effects."

Rogue's critical strike - point out that this does a lot more damage (obvious I know, but I think it needs to be said).

Gehennom - say it's very deep and basically Hell.

Hope I'm being helpful. Kudos on all the work you're doing.

I liked your observations on vampires and rage eruption so much that I just cut and pasted them, which is why I gave you credit. If you don't want it, I'll take you off the researcher list.

I've just edited this article in response to your comments. If you want to suggest any more changes, particularly at the beginning where I wasn't sure how to go about explaining that novices should start with NetHack before going onto SLASH'EM, please do so. I hope the stuff on wands of draining is a bit clearer now - I thought it would make sense if you'd played any game with experience levels, but I rewrote it anyway.

I'm not ignoring your comments on my other articles, but I have to go home now, and tonight is the office party so I won't have any time to go on h2g2. I'm very grateful for your help, and will update the articles just as soon as I have time.
Ekaterin.

I would split the first paragraph up into two since the first part is about the article and the second is about the game.

I liked all of your articles, but this one assumed much more than the others. Breaking up the first paragraph may help since the ideas will become clearer.

You talk about new races but don't mention what the old races are - maybe you should smiley - smiley

OK, I added a list of the races which you can play in vanilla NetHack and the new races which you can only play in SLASH'EM. All the new races except for hobbits have special abilities (doppelgangers can change form, drow can put monsters to sleep), but I thought people who have never played SLASH'EM should be allowed to discover some of its features for themselves smiley - smiley

BTW, I think the word "doppelganger" should have an accent on the a, but I don't know how to do accents in GuideML.

hi Ekaterin - these roguelike game entries seem to be getting a bit of feedback now.smiley - smiley

accents> In my space I use the link to <./>GuideML-Characters</.>, In GuideML to type an 'a' with an umlaut you would type 'ä' so doppelganger would read doppelgänger (it reads ok when you preview it in an entry)

how soon do you think you'll be able to address the point Z made in the thread on the main entry (that the sub-entries need to have double quotes replaced by single ones)?

It's done, and I've added the umlaut when talking about doppelgangers. smiley - ta for all your help.

You've missed at least one set of quotemarks in this very entry - "vanilla"

(which, if any, of your roguelike entries do you think are not ready for recommending yet?)

You're asking *me*? smiley - yikes Haven't you noticed that I am a newbie with *zero* articles in the Edited Guide?

I think they're all as close to ready for recommending as I can get them. The Angband one really needs some input from a good Angband player, but it doesn't look as though it's going to get it.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
