okay, i'm not going to try to convince you it was great, i just remember watching it religiously when i was young (okay, when i was very young).

essential elements? well, the motorcycles were exciting, and the ocean and all the sun and palm trees. ponch's teeth <-- looked just like that. they were good guys who chased bad guys, helped kids and puppies, and smiled a lot. when you're 8 those are essential elements.

such a great department! fish, wojo, yemana, harris, dietrich... and barney miller. the holding cell right in the middle of the room - allowing the detectives to harass whoever was being held. fish in drag dietrich telling the lie detector machine he was from another planet

it's been so long since this show has aired, i've forgotten all the best bits, but it was on every day after school and before dinner, and nothing got done until i'd watched it.
