As mentioned here... F64903?thread=313710
Not my idea but I've decided to stick it on here, and I don't know if there's now an entry on that or not... I'm too lazy to look, I'll just trust that post. I don't really know very much about them anyway

Is there any point when it's already well covered, eg, http://mathworld.wolfram.com/PerfectNumber.html? Maybe that's me showing bad attitude. I mean, why not just cross reference the existing resources publicly available through google? Time to I reckon.

Yes, there's a point, because it's not covered here on h2g2...

It wasn't my idea, I hardly know anything on the subject, just no one else put it on here so I did.
And I didn't try to find out anything about whether it was easy to find or anything.
And looking for it with google partly escapes the point of the guide doesn't it?

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Dec 2, 2003
I could write an entry on Perfect Numbers. It's not really a very interesting topic, in my opinion, but there are some unsolved puzzles there. I'll see what I can come up with.
That's unless someone else is already working on it.

The other form of the equation (which looks nicer aesthetically because of some symmetry in expression) is:
(2^p - 1) x 2^(p-1)
It emphasises a different prime aspect than the M version.

True, but I wanted to highlight the Mersenne Primes, so that I can link to the Mersenne Number entry A670051.
