The H2G2S2 - Sweets for everyone...
Chris Tonks Posted Oct 27, 2000
*Pr. C. Tonks comes wandering into the stall, after recieving a reminder from the beacon he left here ages ago...*
*looks around*
Holy Whotsit! You've got more sweets here than on an Osian beach!!
Oh...could I have a packet of giant smarties please? Look excellent!
*he quickly goes and fetches his beacon from where he left it...*
The H2G2S2 - Sweets for everyone...

And can I have some smarties too!
The H2G2S2 - Sweets for everyone...
Ming Mang Posted Oct 29, 2000
*smiles happily as business perks up again*
*hands packet of Giant Smarties to Pr. C Tonks*
*hands packet of Smarties to BB (and politely inquires whether he wanted ordinary Smarties or Giant Smarties)*
*politely inquires whether The Fish wanted some Smarties or was merely repeating their advertisement*

Could I have some popping candy please?

I'd like to take this oppurtunity that I am boycotting the name "Starburst".
It is a very horrid and stupid name for a sweet.
To me, they are and always will be Opal Fruits. Yet your sweetshop doesn't sell opal fruits, only starbursts.
Could you possibly rename them on your page to Opal Fruits, and then I'd like to ask for some.
I HATE Starbursts - I'm currently boycotting them.

I'm with you on this one. And why did they start doing blackcurrant flavour?
The H2G2S2 - Anti-Starburst Campaign
Bluebottle Posted Oct 30, 2000
I know - it's mad. Lots of people I know have said that they used to buy Opal Fruits because they were allergic to blackcurrents and Opal Fruits didn't have a blackcurrant flavour - and now those hideous named things have a Blackcurrant flavour, which can only be bad.

Umm....
*fearing for his life as he says this...*
... I like blackcurrent flavour....
But I hate the name "Starburst" and "Snickers"! Marathon was far better!
And Somerfields... ergg.... It'll always be gateways to me

Bluebottle Posted Oct 30, 2000
I agree - I've been boycotting Snickers since they changed their name from Marathon. Ever since the new name I've not bought a single one until they change their name back.
But yep - "Gateways" was superior to "Somerfield", "M&W" is better than "Dillons/One Stop" And Classic Goo rules!

And the 'Safeways' store behind my 'home' home (not my 'uni' home) will always be a 'Presto'.

I remember...years and years and years ago...when I first lived in England (before I moved to Switzerland), I was walking past my favorite shop - Gateways, one with rotating doors! - and they were changing the sign!!
and I like Blackcurrant flavour too...one of the best...but I have to agree on you all with the Starburst nonsense...Opal Fruits just sounds yummier!
The H2G2S2 - Anti-Starburst Campaign
Bluebottle Posted Oct 31, 2000
...And I remember when the Gateways round the corner was called "International"... But my Mum still calls it "Home And Colonial"

The shop up the road from us has been: "Bishops" "Budgens" "Betta" "Happy Shopper" & "M&W" but I think someone other than M&W owns it now......

*sits down and begins stamping out fish-shaped smarties for The Fish*
*hands three tubes of them to the Fish*
*asks Justin what popping candy is*
I know! I have Starburst on the S2 page because they're called Starburst... but to me they will always be Opal Fruits and I'm not going to buy any until they are Opal Fruits. And I only heard of the Blackcurrent flavour from you lot... and I don't buy Snickers either... and Gateways was definately better than Somerfield, I know of only one Gateways in existance now, and that's in the crappiest part of Worthing town centre... I tried to keep calling Somerfield Gateways, but I failed. And I tried to keep calling Alldays Circle K - but failed. Circle K was so much better than Alldays. But the Stationers will always be the Stationers... none of this 'Simply S........' business...
