Hi everyone. I'm Ferretman, I'm 17 and from NZ, and I'm an amatiure cartoonist, not a real furry, but I'll talk over here anyway.
Yeah, so where were we, Nini?

Oh yeah, Zoology. Well I'm still at highschool so I'm taking all the right courses. I love Biology, especially animal behavoir. (surprise surprise) In a year, I'm going to start a BSc course at Massey University. So I actually KNOW about animals as well.

Aaah, I see! This little thing is for the other furries here, didn't you read this?

Ok, fine I suppose you could call me a Furry then. I admit it, gahhh!
Besides, you were the one who invited me over here were you not?
I had a good idea for a comic about predators and prey fom the wild living in a flat together. It would be pretty funny, but I can't be stuffed agonising over every panel as I do. Also I've been trying my hand at writing science fiction, I've come up with some sort or rambling, directionless story about some guy in the distant future who works in a coffee stand in a spaceport and lives under the counter. It's very silly.

I just went over to your personal space, go ahead and unsubscribe from my journal post, please. I got rid of it anywaay because the long title messes up my page. I'm so sorry about that, I just haven't got the hang of all the H2G2 functions yet.

Shouldn't neccesarily have said that, 'I'm not a furry' and all... bad... be gone! Heh, no!
Right, I'm here, what now?
Nini Posted Nov 27, 2003
Interesting, go with them, both ideas. You were named furry because you ARE a furry dammit! It's different things for different folk, you count but only so much.
Right, I'm here, what now?
The Pink Ferret (slightly fruity) Posted Nov 27, 2003
Yeah, I suppose you're right. There arn't any strict paramiters for furrydom, are there?
I probably will get around to following up on those ideas, I've got plenty of time: It's the hoildays and I'm stuck at home with no transport. It's a torrential downpour outside and the ferretmobile (My car) is at the garage having a new sound syestem installed.
I think I'll go and do some work on it now...

What in the holy funk are you, some superhero? That's it, I now dub thee.... Ferret-dude because I don't like thing of super ferrets.
Right, I'm here, what now?
The Pink Ferret (slightly fruity) Posted Nov 28, 2003
Ferret's just my physonym.
Plus I've got heaps of time to do stuff 'cause Exams just finished.
Actually, I like the sound of ferret-dude. Ferretman IS a superhero in a satirical comic strip called "supermegatopia".
I'm not a superhero, I run and hide in a tree when confonted with danger.
Hmmmmm....
Ferret-dude?

UUUUGGGHHH!!! Keep that sorta thing to yourself, mate!
It's not my intrest, I think a lot of people might think that sort of remark is a bit too much infomation...
Look, I've been over to your personal space and details are a bit thin on the ground about your real-world prescence, so could you please tell me some basic info, like age, sex, job etc?
Also, what do your friends think of your furryness? I keep to myself, so people at most know I draw cartoons and thats it.

Nini Posted Dec 1, 2003
Gah, joke, joke! I don't think i was too informative, might be one of those scary furs me. Ah, info on me... um, lesse, my rl dealings wont be revealed here but I am female, mainly pink and kinda white, a fox hence my large tail, 18 and somewhere in deepesst england. My furriness is incognito for now until I find my tail and possibly suit then it's off to conFURances for me, for now though its a dirty secret due to its high end weirdness and partial perviness (not my feelings though.)

The Pink Ferret (slightly fruity) Posted Dec 1, 2003
Yeah, I keep my Furryness secret as well, although cartooning isn't the really wierd side of furryness so I do share my work a bit.
In New Zealand, Furries are uncommon so we don't have confurances or anything.
The reason I don't do anything on the net is because I don't have my own computer, and I'm worried I might get discovered (ohh the horror) by the rest of my family who use the same computer.
I suppose you know about me, but I'm a weird 17-year-old Kiwi. I'm a ferret, yes, dyed odd colors (Yesterday, my best mate was in town and he say a goth with a ferret with a pink stripe, he said, "Hey, ***(my name)")
I'm a friendly fur, not a scary fur....
Now, I know furryness is, as you said, high end weird and sometimes pervy, but what is actually wrong with basic, unpervey furryness? Yes it's weird, but so is everyone in some way. Furries tend to be friendly, decent people. I'm not half as weird, in my opinon, as any of my gothic friends, and a hell of a lot less threatening. The only thing stopping us from being accepted is just public aversion to new concepts.

Well duh! We know furriness is non-pervy and ok but not others hence why I said it's what other folk said. Furries are real friendly I've found but public aversion, yiff and an odd fetish label makes it all pervy and weird.. I know it's because we have tails. I feel they'll be conFURances in NZ, you gotta go look for em though. If you're scared of being found out (I have, not too terrible cept I'm perving with rabbits due to some art I drew, foxes don't look like rabbits, do they?) it's easy to erase your tracks, no net access I do is via my own PC. It's mainly a case of public place but if I'm paranoid I'll clean my tracks just in case but I feel like "who cares?", they know nothing about furry life so shouldn't flap their gums about it. Ah, I'm too dedicated but I love it all the same. I dunno about you but I kinda feel like we think it's pervy too, it's not though! If we can see it's nothing to do with sex, others should too... Wish there was more furries here, feels like a ghost town. I know you're a friendly furry, I'm very friendly, love hugs!

Yeah you're very right. On a note regarding furry comics, etc, that we do, have you ever read a book called "MAUS"? It's a comic book about the holocaust. I've been reading it today. The author, Art somebody, has created a comic of his father's exepriences in Poland during the holocaust. The Jews are mice and the Nazis are cats. It's a very serous book about somthing so terrible, it's impossible to comprehend. A very powerful story, and very moving.
I think it shows how "childish" concepts like furries and comic books can be a very good adult medium.
And I have one thing to say regarding furryness: It's pretty weird, but what's wrong with being weird?
There's a weirdness club, have a look on my most recent guide entries on my space.

Yeah, did say something about that... weirdness group? weird isn't cool, it's just weird which doesn't make it cool then.
Right, I'm here, what now?
The Pink Ferret (slightly fruity) Posted Dec 4, 2003
I think the meaning of Weirdness is different between NZ and England. Here Weirdness is a label, a nasty factor in abuse. What I'm trying to do is show real weirdness isn't nessiserially a bad thing. But since you have a different descriptor, It's not going to work. I'll just stay here. This forum is a celebration of high weirdness at it's best!

Just a little question- What do you do as a furry? All I do is draw, but I know most furries play MUCK games on the 'net, and stuff, and I was thinking about joining one now I have a lot of time on my hands and a high-bandwidth connection. But I don't understand the computer stuff like MUCK clients, telnet and so on, and I'm terrifed of wrecking the computer.
Plus, I want to know what other furry activities are out there, y'know?
Right, I'm here, what now?
Nini Posted Dec 5, 2003
Ho hum, yeah.. well, if I was you, I wouldn't stop because someone thought differently, weird has the exact same stigma for me as it does you! See, weird is good but not to celebrate as if it was key to your life though weird is good!
MUCKs are easy, nothing within it can mess with your PC but a cautionary tale, make sure nobody else can get to it if it's software on your PC, I know too little about MUCKs to ask. Telnet is a difficult one, best avoided. Other activities are any that other groups would do, go look about! I would but my connection is flaky at best.
