h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Just to let you lovely folks know that the Fantasy Krikkit Special competition is now up and running at A26639427. I'm experimenting with a scoring system along the lines suggested by B and Montague Trout - details, player lists and everything else are there. If it works as planned, it should be quicker and easier for me, and more accurate for you guys. Let's face it, it can't be any more work or be more error-riddled...

The first match takes place next Wednesday, so we need to move fast. It would be great to have as many of you back as possible - B, Frenchbean and Megachedda are already in - and if the scoring system and spreadsheet work I'll use something similar next season. If you know anyone who might be interested, feel free to let them know about it. I could do with plenty of players to give the system a thorough test, and I might even rope in a few people who aren't h2g2 users to join in if numbers are low - I'd rather not, but needs might must.

For this competition, I'm limiting you to one player from any country for each of the key disciplines (so you can have one Kenyan bowler, one batsman and one all-rounder if you wish - but not two). Part of the reason for this is to get the bidding moving faster - hopefully it might spread the bidding out a bit.

I'm not around Thursday or Friday, so shall we say Friday night for the end of the first round of bidding?

A little rules question, Skanks.

I'm assuming our keeper cannot actually be our captain too, because then he'll actually score quadruple points for taking catches. Is this right?

Keepers score ten points per catch or stumping; no-one else scores anything for them. As this is partly an experiment with the new scoring system, I'm quite happy for keepers to be captains. I don't *think* it will unbalance the scoring.

What I mean is, they'll score double for them if captain, not quadruple

I've lost all interest in the other game after about a month ago, when all my players decided to either go AWOL or play like old women.
