How To Take Part
First, you need to pick a team which you'll captain. You have a budget of £20m to spend on players, and you email your bids to the competition organiser. Whoever bids the highest gets the player - simple as that1!
Your eleven players will consist of the following:
Five batsmen from the list of batsmen.
Two all-rounders from the list of all-rounders.
Three bowlers from the list of bowlers.
One other player, who may be a batsman, bowler or all-rounder - it's up to you.
However, you're only allowed to have one player from any country in each of the disciplines - so you can't have two Indian batsmen or three Aussie bowlers. You can have three players from one country if you wish, but you'll have to have one bowler, one batsman and one all-rounder.
When you've decided who you want, email your choices to fantasy[dot]krikkit[at]googlemail[dot]com - or directly to me if you already have my email address. Mark the subject as 'Fantasy Krikkit Bids' or something similar, and state your U-number and team name.
When your team is assembled, you need to nominate two special players who will score bonus points for you:
A captain. Make sure this is a damn good player, because he'll score you double points for everything he does.
A wicketkeeper, who is the only player who scores points for catches and stumpings. Note that there is no requirement for him to be a recognised wickie, but if he isn't he'll probably take less catches and certainly won't get any stumpings.
Scoring
As an experiment, the scoring has changed from the version used in the domestic competition in response to suggestions from players.
Batting. Players score one point for every run scored, with a bonus of 25 for each completed 50 and a bonus 25 for every century. These are cumulative; a batsman scoring 100 would be credited with 175 points - 100 for the runs, 25 for each of the fifties and 25 for the century.
Bowling. Bowlers score 20 points for each wicket taken, and a bonus of 50 if they take five wickets in an innings.
Fielding. The team's nominated wicketkeeper only will score 10 runs per catch or stumping. No other player will score points for catches or stumpings.
Captaincy. Your captain will score double points in all of the above.
Transfers
Under most circumstances, transfers will not be allowed in this special edition of the game. Once you've got your player, that's it.
The only exceptions will be where a player is sent home through injury or other extenuating circumstances. If a player is injured but remains with the squad, you will not be allowed to replace him as clearly his country feel there is a chance he will be able to take further part in the competition - and if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me. If the side he plays for has been eliminated from the competition, no replacement will be allowed at all - so if your main batsman breaks his finger in a dead match at the end of the group stage with no hope of his team going through, you can't gain an advantage by shipping in a replacement.
I'll look at any potential replacement situations as they arise, and will treat each one fairly and on its merits, but for the most part as players get knocked out you'll just be a player short.
