A Conversation for Fantasy Krikkit
Twenty20 Competition

I've just realised that there's only going to be a very limited way that I can organise the knockout competition this year. There are only a few dates where I won't be away in the woods while all the Counties have played the same number of matches, so I'm releasing details earlier than planned so I don't have to work it all out again.
The twelve teams will be divided into four groups of three for the first round, which will run for the first three matches of the competition, 11-15 June. At that stage, the top team in each group will go through to the semi-finals.
The semi-final will take place between 16 and 22 June, and the final and third place play-off from 23-27 June.
Prize money will be a whopping £5m for the winner, £3m for second and £1m for third.

During this competition, you'll have the opportunity to make some changes to your team if you wish. I'll post full details nearer to the time.

I assume the divisions will be geographical, like the real thing:
Northern Division: DD, Megachedda, Andy G
Suspiciously Scouse Division: Alfredo, Egon, Magwitch
Southern Division: Mu Beta, Jules K, Bubba-fretts
Australasian Division: Frenchbean, Montague Trout, SBE

The Group of Death would be the Northern Division, surely?
I'd considered putting the top three in one division, places 4-6 in another, and so on - this is actually quite close to that, but far wittier.

I would've thought the Nothern Division would be the Group Of Death solely on the grounds that it contains a politician, a stroppy teenage and a post-grad physicist.

Can the Australasian Division contain somebody who isn't actually in Australasia? I know he hankers after Sydney's Northern Beaches, but right now I think he's lurking somewhere in Kent. Correct me if I'm wrong, SBE...

I think he possibly is, but he's spent enough time out your way.

Really you should swap me with Magwitch if you were going for accuracy since I was born in Liverpool... but it's fine this way

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky. Posted May 31, 2008
Suspiciously Scouse? Moi? I'll have you know I'm Mancunian, born and bred. Go wash your mouth out with carbolic soap, B

I'll swap AndyG and Magwitch in the groups, then. I think the 'summerbay' part of SBE's name qualifies him to play in the Australasian group, even if only as a kind of Kolpak.
