Don't join the evil pixie worshipng fiends. Not only do they force you to be celebate they also perform experimental brain surgery on you to lower your IQ to single figures...admittedly that's neccessary to get people to believe their lies and falsehoods.

How did you find this, TB? I must say, being celibate would be a step up from what I have now. I may not be joining anyway. A few of my friends are Thursdayites, so their bound to stop this. I have no sway right now, I'm afraid...

Changing the name of Thursday will not eradicate anything which may cause you distress. What it will do is upset Thor/Thur and angering a thunder god is not likely to make your life any better, is it?

It will. It will eradicate an extremely boring name. That's all it needs to do, really.

I don't believe in Thor and think keeping the day named after im and his ilk is an odd notion and we can surely do better.

Thus conceived in sobriety and possessed of a true calling, the original Council of Thing decreed the new week to be:

Sodit; Wimpy; Wibble; Thing; Poets; Doobry; Dontbry.

..and there was much rejoicing. smiley - diva

Especially those who wear sodden copper armour in the middle of thunderstorms at the top of hills yelling 'ALL YE GODS ARE BASsmiley - bleepRDS!'.

Thing... such simplicity, no specific religious connotation, and names that have a reason people nowadays can equate to rather than some hundreds of years old ancient... um... *Try to think up other word than 'Thing'*

It does seem odd given that we stopped worshipping Thor and 'is ilk' as you put it a long time ago.

ah that takes me back - to the days when our humble revolution was conceived. you sound like a Thingite already! But trust me Thing is pretty darn good and we're rather attached to it. smiley - winkeye

I'm going to sit this out for now, if you don't mind. Just between us, though, the latest scores show that you'll have a new member soon. I mean hayafi(I think) seems pretty taken with the idea.

Build it and they will come. smiley - zen

I feel Like wossname.... Costner in that movie....smiley - erm

Believe me, I never cease to be amazed that so many people are prepared to think that renaming the weekdays is a good idea, but I started this, so I see it as my duty to welcome them all - and they keep coming. smiley - winkeyesmiley - spork

and I've yet to see why some people think campaigning for "keeps things the same" "change is unhealthy" "we like having obscure norse mythologies inform our calendar!" is odder than campaign to change them to something as arbitary to be sure, but much, much more fun. smiley - silly

I'll forever be a Thingite, and never a Thursdayite. smiley - tongueout Occassionaly I ask other people to come along with me. sometimes they say yes. smiley - smiley
