My work isn't exactly amusing either, but there's just so much of it sometimes that I don't have time to even consider if it's boring or not. But enough about w**k.

So what is this story about the Norwegian prince & his girlfriend? I heard something about it this morning as I was going out the door, but I didn't quite grasp what was going on.

Sorry, that was just me kidding (now I'm REALLY bored)...

Its the same old story exept that Cinderella is a single mom this time.

Well, the crownprince as found himself a single mom who used to go to housepartys in the beginning of the 90ies. The press has, of course, used this for all it's worth. The press have also been writing a lot about whether or not they'll marry, what effect will this have on the monarchy, what will be off Mette-Marit's other son, bla-bla-bla, when will they announce their engagement, bla-bla-bla. This has led to a press-release from the court yesterday, saying that Haakon & Mette-Marit will announce their engagement sometime before Christmas. The Press Officer at the court hadn't discussed this with the prince himself, though. So later on yesterday the prince took the press for a stroll in the park, letting them know that they had no plans of announcing any engagement. He did, however, assure the press that if and when they did get engaged, it would be properly announced...

I think that's a most interesting story about the Norwegian royalty. The virginity constraint is completely obsolete and, as recent history has shown, even detrimental, but bringing a stepchild into the family is quite interesting. Several hundred years ago the prince probably would have been up to his knees in illegitimate children. But marrying a woman with children is not entirely without precedent in royalty, is it?
