A Conversation for Talking Point: If You Were Immortal Would You Become A Hedonist?
lifes too serious to take seriously

Lifes experiences have taught me a number of things which i have managed to correct and use for my own well being and beneift, whilst nearly always having a ball.
Most of our lives are shaped in one way or another by the society in which we live.
Supposing you just didnt fit?
Youd have to make your own way.
Supposing all your dreams have come true, one after another -
Then you are free.
The suppositions in the leading article do not lead to the feeling of freedom, but a kind of captivity.
Imagine you have sinned all your life, and instead of going to heaven you are going to the other place.
Theres a large sign hanging from the wall - something like the "jolly slug." from inside you hear voices raised in good cheer, its cold outside and theres nowhere else to go.
A good warm fire down one end of the room, but you cant get near it because of large numbers of clergymen; you try to get near where the drinks are but again its crowded.
Everyone is shouting because every one is shouting.
You try to talk to someone, but you are obviously not a member of the "inn " crowd, so they dont want to talk to you.
You finally get a drink, its beer, but it has a slightly sour taste, and is very gassy and cold.
Funnily enough none of the conversations you can hear are about anything at all.
The room is dark and slightly smelly - someone whispers into your ear what a good night it is.
