Count Zero

Greetings,

I just wanted to add one thing to Chivas. I'm by far no blend lover nor conisseur but I visited the Stratisla destillery two years ago. They have a very nice tour of their destillery, while not being the chepaest (4 pounds) they offer a very good program. But that's beoyond the point... what I wanted to point out that was that I had the chance to compare the Single malt (Stratisla) and the blend (Chivas). It cooks down to this: The malt at the base has a funny taste, and blending does not improve it. (NOTE: I said "funny" not "bad" as I would have with Glenf****ch)

And that's all I have to say about that..

ps: I agree: Laphroaig rocks! Ever tried the 30 y.o.?

An answer long over due:

Unfortunately, no. I would love to try the 30 year old. I found an 18 year old Lagavulin in Greece last year, and it was a real treat. But Laphroaig wins my price any time. Also I would like to add that I recently came over a bottle of 22 year old Glenfiddich, which was astonishingly good, a very nice surprise. I hear that even the 18 year old is well worth trying.

It's an unfortunate side effect. Or fortunate, depending on the outcome and the view you take on it. smiley - smiley

I wonder if it would taste quite so nice without the (un)fortunate side effect.smiley - winkeye

I couldn't possibly tell you my view in a n open forum.smiley - devil

Oooh, raunchy? smiley - smiley Well, I mostly find the side effect fortunate. Unless I find a really nice brand that I want to drink much of but get too side effected to hold the glass...Or anything, for that matter. smiley - sadface

When have I ever been raunchy?smiley - devil

Side effects of this kind are generally good, but not if they prevent you from holding things.smiley - winkeye

Ah yes. Being able to hold is a force that must always be with you... And yes, I can't seem to recall you ever being raunchy. Rude of me to even imply it. Min you, my innocent mind doesn't even know the meaning of the word, so I could possibly be excused, since I didn't know what I was talking about. Just like right now, really.

I think it's a whisky related word, but I'm not sure. Sounds nice, though.
