A Conversation for What Does the Internet Mean to You?

The internet is s_l_o_w . (Especially on h2g2?) It bombards me with emails that I don't want. It is anti-social. It encourages people to chat using their lousy keyboard skills. The web has 800 million pages and most of them tell you nothing.
BUT...
...there is the hyperlink. You click on something that looks like this:
http://www.unverse.com/
and suddenly you are whisked away to a new glimpse of the universe. The web is full of connections. It probably has more than 800 million pages yet any 2 random pages are, on average, only 19 links apart. In 20 clicks you could be anywhere.
Now that's seductive.
("Unverse" is NOT a typographical error. Click the hyperlink if you don't believe me.)
