Yes, I really do think no-one should ask what is in that particular cake.
As for the Æ and §
Make sure num-lock is on
hold down Alt
using the numeric keypad, type 0198 or 0167
release Alt
got it?

I had to do a lot of typing with french accented characters, ancient greek and logical symbols. I got fed up of using character map. If you select an item in the character map, in the bottom right it says the key combination. I had to notice that, and then work out how to use it (numlock and numpad and when to release Alt), and then write down all the codes I wanted on a crib sheet, but it was easier and quicker than using cut and paste and character map. After I while I knew all the codes off by heart that I used most often and chucked the crib sheet. I haven't used them for a while, so I am forgetting them. But some have stuck, like ctrl+alt+e = é, and some I just need to guess, play for a bit. Eg, the accented letters start wiht 0192, 0224 for À and à and folow on in alphabetical order too. There are some fun ones in there like Ð, ð, þ (0208, 0240,0254) too. and € is ctrl+alt+4, itf any of you want to know that for any reason

I can usually manage é, © ³,², as they're the ones I used most often. Everyone here says its worth learning symbol, so's you know which greek letter maps to which key, but I've not managed that yet!

It is fairly straightforward for most of the letters, if you know the greek alphabet. (I did greek at school). a,b,d,e,f,g... it is just things like w,v,khi, xi, etc that you need to learn

Can'teven manage those. I tend not to mess about on word processing, so miss these things

I've been making an effort to learn to write the greek alphabet, at least. I never studied it, but I've memorised all the letter names now, and I think I can do all the capitals, the little letters get me from time to time, which is irritating since they're the ones that get used most in our lectures
