Actually it's 1oo proof, not 100% proof. But you're right about it being 100-proof = 50% alcohol. I think it's because it makes 151 Rum sound prettier.. or that 190-proof Grain Alcohol sound as bad as it is.

Naw.. was a local metal band. They were quite good, actually, but all the members save one had well-paying day jobs and were afraid to give them up for the risks of breaking into the business.

Yep, melons and marrows have a natural yeast in them. you can Scrape them out and fill them with the stuff you want to brew

if you really want alcohol without using yeast for some ethical reason then you'd have to go via the chemical route, unless someone out there knows any other biological processes that produce alcohol as a by-product.
I know that you can get some types of alcohol related substaces from wood, but you wouldn't want to drink those.
