The Wisest Fool

Yes TM, PG is a dude. I'm glad there's none of that 'Bee Gees' era stuff with King around though - bloody scary thought that is.

Have you heard his duet with Kate Bush live doing 'Another Day' by Roy Harper? I think it was a charriddee album track but there's an MP3 on the web (no link to hand but do a search and you'll find it) - LOVELY that is.

I actually like Kste Bush more than PG and I think it's a shame she's been ill and never put out more astonishing work than she has done.
'The Dreaming' is one of my favourite albums of all time. Fantastic stuff from someone only just in her twenties!

Okay, here's the link to PGs site http://www.realworld.co.uk

Loads of track samples, and if you're patient, the whole of the 'Steam' video.

Can I also add 'Games Without Frontiers' (Kate Bush!) and perhaps 'Biko' to the top tracks list?

Didn't know about Charterhouse. Used to be neighbours to Mike Rutherford's parents when I was 'young'. Quote conversation:

MRs mum: 'My son's in a band called Genesis. Have you heard of them?'

Me: 'No!'

You can imagine how many times I have kicked myself since!!!

Mike who...? smiley - winkeye Yeah I can see that would be a bit embarrasing but then again, it makes a good story now !

Oh well, I must admit that if I would have to choose between PG and Kate Bush I really wouldn't know what to do...

I drew up a list recently of the 10 best albums(in my opinion) of the 80-ies and Kate is on it, you can bet your life on that, first woman in rock that I fell in love with(hey I was only 16 or so..).

In random order :

The Dreaming - Kate Bush
Stop making sense - Talking Heads
The Wall - Pink Floyd
Songs from the big chair - Tears for Fears
Fame and Wealth - Loudon Wainwright III
Genesis - Genesis
It'll end in tears - This Mortal Coil
A walk across the rooftops - The Blue Nile
The Joshuatree - U2
Sign of the times - Prince

Your input please...

TM.

Re TM's top ten from the 80's, I've got all except Genesis and Loundon Wainwright and all are great albums.
Kate Bush - has to be The Dreaming. Incredible album, bore people silly with it myself.

Talking Heads - Love 'Sense' but prefer '..Light' as an overall album. Although if the full soundtrack to 'Stop Making Sense' was on CD that would be better. Most of my favourite tracks from the film aren't on the LP.

I love about four tracks on the Wall (especially '...Numb') but I don't like all of them. Thank God for programmable CD players smiley - smiley
All time fave Floyd LP is 'Meddle' but that was a different era.

I forgot about 'Songs From The Big Chair' so played it again. Just one track though, 'Listen', which I played over and over.

This Mortal Coil - beautiful album, especially Song to the Siren which is most beautiful track ever IMHO and Another Day which is way sad.

If I had room for a U2 album I think personally that The Unforgettable Fire gets my vote, that would be in my top 20. I always preferred the Edge doing his fast choppy Edge thing and there's nowt Edge-ier than 'Wire' or 'Pride'.

I love Prince too and have a soft spot for Purple Rain as it was my intro to the guy. Sign of the Times sprawls a bit but is still funkeee especially the title track. I think he's lost it big time recently though.

My top ten are (bound to regret missing some here - already wanted to fit in Billy Bragg, Chameleons, Cardiacs and loads more)

My favourite track from each is in brackets

Kate Bush - The Dreaming [Suspended in Gaffa]
REM - Life's Rich Pageant [Flowers of Guatemala]
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses [I am the Resurrection]
The Cure - Disintegration [Pictures of You]
The Triffids - Calenture [Hometown Farewell Kiss]
Cocteau Twins - Treasure [Ivo]
The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow [How Soon Is Now?]
Talking Heads - Remain in Light [Once In A Lifetime]
Elvis Costello and the Attractions - Get Happy [Riot Act]
New Order - Substance [Ceremony]

Whatcha think?

Hey, I was thinking of composing my top ten album/tracks list. Must be something in the water/wine! Mine's probably somewhat different to the above, but would include 'So' [In Your Eyes] -PG, something by Sting, 'The Division Bell' - Pink Floyd, and some others which I haven't quite wittled down yet.
