...until you hit the last paragraph.

I take it you personally met the 'bimbo' in question, which is why you are able to describe her as such? Given your comments on the subject, I am sure you would not think of basing such derogatory comments on the lies, half-truths and speculation of the world's media.

My god, someone read that old thing, point taken, I was young and angry at the time. Let me try and re-word it.

Glad you're not so young and angry now then.smiley - hug

Just went for a bit of a wander round your page to see if anything rang any bells.smiley - santa

OK - the older, more mature, me has revised the former last pargaragh and added a brand new final paragraph, although on the sad recent events.

I think until the Cheese Sauce conversation, all our previous exchanges were pre- Rupert, I only remember them because of the odd flag you had on your page about so many points in so many moves or something - suffice to say sureal enough to stick in my mind (along with the animated flying horse)

ChawkE

Post 5

Much more mature.smiley - winkeye

smiley - ermActually, that thing about so many points in so many moves was not me. I think it was probably Anonymouse, who also used to hang out in the lyrics forums.smiley - smiley

I did however have a flying horse on my space, funnily enough.smiley - winkeye

smiley - ufo is the best I can do these days.smiley - cry

Doh! you're right, it was 'nony who had (has?) that strap line, your "What's it about, Alfie" sticks in my mind as I think you've left that unchanged for a long time.

My title bar has also been left unchanged for ages, but last week after I updated my page a mod hisd it and refered t to Peta et al, because it is in Latin ! smiley - biggrin Oh well at least it has now been logged and accepted.

ChawkE

Post 7

Latin seems to be acceptable for some reason. Other researchers have it on their spaces too. Perhaps it doesn't count as a foreign language?smiley - erm

I think the title of my space has remained the same pretty much since I arrived, once I finally settled on an identity. After passing through one or two identities en-route...smiley - winkeye

Given our other conversation, are you a veggie too then? If so, would you be interested in joining the h2g2 Vegetarian Society? o be found at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U144422

Yes I am a veggie, but tend to be a non-joiner of things - so far the only thing I've joined on h2g2 was the Scouts (not the paramilitary youth organization smiley - biggrin ) but after a while that became too much work (well it didn't but I starte to get a social life during the summer. A scary move smiley - smiley

And anyway, too be honest, I'm not sure why I don't eat meat, certainly when I was at college most of my friends and course mates were (the course attracted old hippies and other weirdos (such as me)) and I think I slowly stopped without realising it.

Tonights Sainsuby's take out (a dhansak) was also very nice - One reason for eating hese is as I live alnoe smiley - sadface when I cook I tend to cook too much - and then eat it all. So to stop me turning into a fat bloater I buy ready meals.

The other alternative is to invite people over but the last person I invited for a quiet night in seems to be ignoring me at the moment smiley - sadface

ChawkE

Post 9

So I can't just surruptitiously add you to the members list then?smiley - grovel

I always cook too much, but then eat it for the next couple of meals.smiley - winkeye Given my curry addiction (which is the main thing I seem to make too much of), this doesn't seem to be a problem.smiley - silly

smiley - hugMaybe they're just busy, or if they're like me, giving you a break for your own good. smiley - grr"You wouldn't like me when I'm angry..."

It was all going so well...

Post 10

C Hawke

LOL Maybe. People doing things for others "own good" never seems to work does it.

Go on add me to your list of non-meat eating weirdos - we must stand together, although when I come down with vCJD (Yes, I ate burgers in the 80s) I may not remember telling you this smiley - biggrin

It's odd what does stick in memory - your flying horse, some page titles and for some reason you moving to Devon (or was it just "the South West") its a shame those pre-Rupert conversations seem doomed never to return, although some I am very glad remain hidden.

I don't know how close to Exeter you are but a good take out in Exeter and Exmouth Ghandi Express again do good Indian dishes, not British curries, meat and non-meat but a good selection of non-meat as is typical of true Indian cooking.

Anyway, its nearly my bed time.

Just putting a note here to make sure you see the one above - as you seem to be in *so* many conversations you may miss this one smiley - biggrin

Are you really thinking of leaving us? Just as we were getting to know one another smiley - hug

ChawkE

Post 12

A wise move indeed, as I instantly spotted it.smiley - winkeye

Leaving is a difficult decision (especially when you're as indecisive as I am), but it's so easy to get caught up here and never get anything else done! Unfortunately, unlike some lucky contributors, I don't get paid to surf.smiley - online2long However, with so many interesting conversations going on, and so many real-life meets to attend, how will I ever tear myself away?smiley - winkeye

Post 13

C Hawke

I go thru phases, at times I can go for weeks without posting, and then post a dozen over a weekend, just depends if I see something that takes my fancy smiley - winkeye

I only rarely log on at work - I'm mainly an off peak surfer, but the last few days I've been on a few days sick so I have actually gone on at home in peak times - luckily I hope I can afford the bill, it may even run into pounds ! smiley - biggrin

So is anyone going to arrange a SW meet? I'm not to sure about stepping out from the anominity of the site, although I have taken one step by adding an email link on my non-h2g2 site (link on my h2g2 page). It's a big scary world out there.

Some pre-Rupert conversations are gradually creeping back, but there are some I am sure will never see the light of day again... unless nearly every post reads [content removed by moderator]smiley - winkeye

I took a long break from h2g2 from about last Decemeber to this April, but only because my home computer died.smiley - sadface When the opportunity presented itself for me to log on elsewhere, I was shocked to discover h2g2 had disappeared!smiley - yikes I later smiley - laugh first then smiley - cry when I realised it had been taken over by the BBC.

I've now been to several meets, and although your first is daunting, you rapidly discover what a genuinely nice bunch of people these researchers are.smiley - smiley I'd recommend a real-time meet myself.smiley - winkeye

I'll wander over to your website soon, and maybe even drop you a mail, if you're (un)lucky.smiley - bigeyes

Post 15

I was about to log off for a while when your last reply arrived so good timing.

Ah Rupert, I remember it well, I guess you weren't a volunteer at the time. I was a Scout and the hard part was keeping quiet after we were told (and let back on) about the the relaunch, some of the conversations from the post Rupert but still password protected site are slightly surreal, at times there was over 3 reseachers online smiley - biggrin

So do the meets just end in drunken debauchery? I've seen yours and others photo around.

I assume you have a new home PC now smiley - smiley or did the last one rise from the dead? A vampire PC maybe smiley - vampire (gosh I'm really getting the hang of these smily things after 2 years.

If you do pop over to my non-h2g2 page, theres a (virtual) prize if you correctly identify the one photo with me in it and which one I am. smiley - biggrin

Later

Post 16

My PC died before Rupert, complete with my first batch of entries for subbing.smiley - yikes Those poor researchers really had a long wait.smiley - blush

*sighs in a reminscing kind of way* I remember back in the old days when I would sometimes discuss with another resaercher the likelihood of one of us being the only one online one day. Oh well... it will never happen now.smiley - laugh

Yup... drunken debauchery pretty much covers it.smiley - winkeye However, I have tried not to get quite as drunk (or pull such silly faces) as I did at the first meet, on subsequent occasions.smiley - blush

Hmm... I'm at your website now, and going for the completely random guess of the 'where the bike took me' photo. You're the guy on the right at the back?

*waits to see if she's won a smiley - gift*

It was all going so well...

Post 17

C Hawke

Who said I was a guy? smiley - winkeye I have *never* mention one way or another pre or post Rupert what I am.

So any I guess I'll have to reply by email.

But later. Must switch off now, TV to watch - now is that just so sad smiley - sadface

ChawkE

PS you think I'm the guy without much hair doing a bow? Mmmmmm

It was all going so well...

Post 18

C Hawke

in fact I'm also in one of the kite photos.

smiley - laughWell given the the random guess I went for was a guy, naturally that is what I asid.smiley - tongueout

*trots off to critically examine... er... admire the kite photos*

Nice smiley - cat btw.smiley - biggrin

Got delayed in loggin off (again) by downloading an addon to make my site funky with popup windows for the full size picies rather than full pages - sorry, sad web designer frenzy (FYI sad, not very good, web designer)

She looks nice, but the cat can be mean, paranoid, sulky and in need of attention - just like her owner smiley - biggrin

Must go no, software downloaded.
