Fabulous! We already have a scorekeeper. Mol is going to do the honors....with colored pencils, no less. Mol.
I like scorekeepers. I used to score the basketball games for the school I attended, seeing as how I was too short to play.

I can be stand-in scorer if Mol needs to stretch her legs or use the facilities (ha ha, as a female scorer I have found facilities are few and far between!)... and Spouse is in three amateur teams so maybe he would play

As my mother lives quite close to Bristol, I'm happy to offer my services as umpire for the match - I've passed my exams and everything

Well, I'm a maybe. I would like to be there but I don't know whether I'll be able to.
Hyp - there's a referee as well, but he's rarely seen on the field.

I hope you are able to arrange it, Bagpuss. You would have the distinction of playing in both the Presidential Croquet Match and the Presidential Cricket Match. No silly hats in the is one.
Jules, tell your husband that you need for him to protect you from your internet weirdo friends.
KerrAvon is a possible. And she knows how to play. Also, Pinniped had better come since this was his idea in the first place. And Waz and Xantief are possibles.
We have time to arrange a great match. 'Twill be a hoot!

Z, are you going to take a stab at playing or are you coming as a spectator?

No silly hats? And I was going to dig out my battered Panama. I suspect Rich has a cap or two hanging around as well.

I figured a hillbilly granny bowler would be enough of a shock to refined British sensibilities without the addition of the chicken hat. It wouldn't take up much room in my luggage, though.

This is cricket - silly hates are a necessity. Now admittedly the players on pitch tend to stick to relatively normal ones, but hats are a must. And with cricket, I think it's obvious that the more silly the better (I was going to try and make that a fielding pun, but I'm not feeling that inventive.)
