A Conversation for (was) The Slowly Expanding LiFF page

I was just reading "Don't Panic" by Neil Gaiman today, when the
thought struck me: it's time to create the definite dictionary of
new (Liff) words... I know how immensely popular it has been to
think up all these words, so lots of people must have done it
already, all over the net. I wondered if the guys at TDV already
had plans to implement a dictionary that is easily accessible and
searchable (and footnotable or whatever) for field researchers, so
that a beginning can be made to start actually using them. This
reference should really contain the originals as well, plus everything
on the net (edited of course.. like you're doing now). Have you done
that? I mean, looked all over internet and written to the authors
whether they'd like to contribute? And have you written to the H2G2
staff to make a more prominent place for it? Anyway, I think you
should. I've made a start in trying to promote the use of liff
words in my Dentist article (in Project Galactic Guide, that is).
I hope this gave you some encouragement to expand your activities smiley - smiley

I'm leaving it up to ye editors to organise and collate all the Liff stuff, I spend far too much time already just thinking up new definitions, I think I'm addicted. I'll try and find a suitable place-name for your spurious lump of dental filling! Come to think of it, there must be lots of dentist type situations that deserve a good liffism ...

Good thought! I'll see if I can come up with some situations myself.
BTW some of my recent articles are about these typical normal situations where we don't have a name for yet. For instance, the
feeling that someone is reading your mind (e.g. in a bus you have
a thought about someone and suddenly they look towards you AS IF THEY
KNOW!). Or the facial expression you make when you meet someone in
a hallway and said hello or good day to on an earlier occasion..
etc.
