Several 'facts' in this little piece confuses me a bit.
The motorbike that I ride now has both a glove compartment and a cigarettelighter (no it neither a Harley or Goldwing, it's a BMW R1100RT).
I am not wearing a metal hat, it is glassfibre and plastic, I stay dry in the rain as my suit is waterproof (I have had the opportunity to test the waterproofness on several occasions) and the suit will also protect me from too severe contact with the asphalt, should a moronic and careless car driver seperate me from my bike.
I have developed a very defensive riding style because I now I am the vulnurable party should I get close to a car or truck and I always adhere to the speed limits or keep below them in towns.
It seems to me that the author of this little piece is very ill informed about motorbike riding, probably because he only ever notices the motorbikes that are run recklessly, and unfortunately they do exist.
But my experience is that most bikers are sensible people with a healthy interest.
BTW, I don't have a car

You are obviously as confussed as the rest of us by the writer of this forum He/She has no idea of what riding a bike is like. lets hope with the help of h2g2 we can educate them.

No, they don't. But it's fun to watch the Google goons who turn up expecting OED definitions.

Would be fun to find out what constitutes a 'Google Goon'.
I am sorry I mistook your entry for serious, but you actually managed to hit the tone of someone very ignorant of the art of motorcycle riding, and at times you run into people who actually make your statements in earnest, hence the defensive tone.
Funny, though, it is two years ago that I made the reply, and I have since aquired a cage, drive it much the same way I ride the motorbike. Guess I really shouldn't, I get a terrible pain in the nether regions from straddling the damn thing.

The entry about motorbikes captures the spirit of motorcycling while omitting any factual information. This should be admired, rather than disabused with tawdry reality.
Key: Complain about this post
