Metal Hats???

This reference to metal hats seems incorrect. Though possibly, if you live in UK you have voted in a government that has made this mandatory head gear, together with legislation promoting compulsory cross dressing & rubber underwear while being beaten with limp spinach by a 65 year old widow dressed as a schoolgirl as mandatory occupational therapy for all staff of PC Games Magazines.

Is any of the above a problem? Personally, my helmet is kevlar (cue Frankie Howard eyebrows...) and has lots of cute little techie adjustable airscoops on the side. Please note that this is actually a misnomer in the UK - in this country, they are in fact water filters, designed to funnel the contents of our atmosphere into a series of high pressure rivulets, which then converge on one's nose and back of neck, irritating the wounds left by the celery.
You forgot the eggwhisk, BTW.

Tel me more about the 65 year old!
Re bike helmets, with the visor down I can't see because of the rain on it, with the visor up I have to keep my eyes shut to avoid wasps getting into them. The onle reason I drive at 170MPH is that its the lowest speed at which air pressure blows the rain off teh visor.

Egg whisk means egg beater, and no, I don't know what the reference is either. Please don't apologise for being foreign, we know you cannot help it and will continue to try to be supportive and helpful to you as you struggle with your handicap.
Other terms: Our cars (automobiles) have a boot (trunk) for luggage storage and and bonnet (hood) covering the engine (motor). They run on petrol (gasoline) which we purchase at a garage (gas station). When driving on a motorway (highway) we keep the central reservation (median divide) to our right, otherwise the motorway police (highway patrol) may find it necessary to intervene (open fire).

All joking aside the writer of the origal article oviously doesn,t have a clue about bikes or bikers and the things we wear to protect ourselves, metal hats what's that all about? (or maybe he/she does and wrote the article knowing that it would get a response)
