As I also belong to another photograph club, and they run a small course called "introduction to digital photography" as the digital camera can be a tricky animal sometimes to use, like strange colours added to prints, out of focus pictures, and the classic blurred shot! and as these are small mastakes, but easy things to rectify and make the resultant print more enjoyable too!

Ok! here goes.... If anyone needs help, to ask a question, and if you don't want to, thats ok too!

(tryed to cover all the bases, cus one knows what hootoo can be like and if i've offened anyone, thing, being, aninmal, fish, inesct I'm sorry, disclamer over)

Thanks, this could be helpful.I only started using a digital camera this year, and things don't always go to plan.I have always been interested in photography, and, usually walk about with a camera glued to my eye.I am trying to enroll on a course at the local college but it is very popular and hard to get a place,so i will know where to call in the meantime!smiley - cheers

coolio, smiley - biggrin its just that I seen some really nice photos and they have been let down by very basic mastakes, and not really on the part of the owner/photographer, but the camera settings itself!

I didn't know there's so much about cameras, I always find the most tricky part not to have my own shadow in the picture or to hold my hand still for long enough so the picture doesn't get blurred.smiley - laugh

I guess I can still learn something...smiley - ta

Do you have any tips on close-ups, RJR? smiley - smiley

I take the camera when I go out for country walks. If there's any plant/insect/fungus I can't identify, I snap it and look it up when I get home. Unfortunately, my close-ups never seem to focus on the subject. It's worse if it's something busy, like an insect on a leaf, or if it's dark (I don't like to use flash as it alters the colour).

Any tips? smiley - cheers

Please can you tell me the make and model of camera, and weather its film or digitalsmiley - smiley so i can find out "how to" do adjustments for your camera.

And as a general rule, most digital camers have a "macro" facility on them , and on the whole its denoted by a "small flower Icon" on the menu, when you set the camera to the macro setting, the camera adjusts its focusing to the "nearest/closest" thing!

As for "I don't like to use flash as it alters the colour" I'm sorry I can't answer that one till I know what model of camera as it might need a bit of a "White Balance" tweek!

Hopes this helpssmiley - smiley

It's a digital Nikon E5200. I use the close-up setting.

I'm a bit of a novice, so 'White Balance tweaks' are outside my comfort zone!

smiley - smileyright then, Do you have the "white balance" set to auto, if not, set it to auto! and the "metering system" should be also set to "spot" rather than then the default "matrix" settings, also don't be put off by playing with the settings as the camera does have a re-set button, which set's it back to factory setting

Is this any help?? smiley - smiley

just had a look at my old e5700 and as the macro setting was used the "flower Icon" changed colour from white to yellow so i should imagin thats what your looking for after changing the settings! smiley - smiley
