Did we ever agree on what this decade is called?
We discussed the equivalent 12 years ago, and settled on The Noughties:

This thread from 2000 thought we would call the current decade ‘The Teenies’, but I’ve never heard anyone use that:

So what is it? The Teenies, The Teens, The Tens, The Twenty Tens? Anything else?

I think in the 20th century they got around the problem of what to call the decade by having a World War.

Gods, Gnomon, that's a depressing thought.

The Marvel decade? Started early with Iron Man in 2008 and they'll round off Infinity War in 2020.

Maybe it's my age, but I only associate Marvel with powdered milk.
Interactive TV entertainment genres have a shelf life of around 10 years, but I'm not sure how closely they align with calendar decades. We had reality shows (like Big Brother), then music talent shows (Pop Idol/X-Factor). This decade has the variety talent show (Britain's Got Talent)
The one which seems to align with the last 6 years would be the craft show under the banner of Great British Doobrey (Menu/Bake Off/Sewing Bee,etc etc)
So I'll go for the Great British Decade.
But feel free to substitute the entertainment genre from your part of the world.

World War One notwithstanding, I sometimes hear the equivalent decade in the 20th Century referred to as "the nineteen-tens". It sounds a bit clunky to my ear (and doesn't really make any sense numerically), but I don't think I've heard any names used.

No offence but get stuffed. It's enough having a comedy channel dedicated to the 'fact' that one's name is supposedly somehow amusing

I hope that wasn't directed at me, I haven't even posted in the thread!
I am not sure that each decade deserves a name. I lived through most of the 1950's and the 1960's and I think they might deserve special mention. The 1920's were a time of fun between the Great War and the Great Depression. I think the '90's will belong to the 19th century, at least for the foreseeable future
As the Elizabethan Era belong the Elizabeth the First, how will the current reign be remembered?

It depends who's writing, but more importantly, what happens that we don't know yet.
For instance - and this wasn't what I meant at first by the American Era - it could be that the current "Monarchy Era" in Britain is defined by future historians as starting with the Edward 8 and Wallis Simpson debacle, and ending with some event in 2025 which changes the monarchy in a way we cannot predict.

Of course not. I get a bit tired of my true name being treated as a joke generally.
It wasn't even directed at swl - just the general trend of this sort of thing.

Something like the plot of "King Ralph?"
