Obviously a right hand hammer, anything else would be sinister.

With or without the rebound dampening feature?

Instead of rebound dampening features, hammers should be developed to utilize the rebound. You know, similar to self loading rifles

Stop!

Hammer time!

Any preference between cross peen and ball peen?

Well now that really depends. Do you want perfection or just getting the combobulator restarted so as to drive it to the nearest workshop?
Either way if it is a Van Helsing Combobulator you may want a sledge hammer instead

obviously a McDougal rebounding ball peen is the preference. However, these days a Smith-Churnley reciprocater is a good substitute.

Not to be confused with a Smith & Wesson revolver.

well obviously a metal revolver is inferior to a cloth reciprocator. Especially the Sidile model. Although it might be argued that the Arbigensian paper model has the edge.
