ooh, a tantaliser... Can't you give any gory details? Like how many third world nations could have been industrialized with the cost of building one of those homes - or just throwing one party in it?
Alternatively, numbers of rooms, and their functions and other ostentations - one of the similiar mansions in Connecticut had a fountain under the stairs, I recall. The Vanderbilts wouldn't have been outdone by someone from Connecticut.

I'll try to dig out a few more facts. As usual I like to write from what I've seen or been told as I don't ever want to be accused of copying stuff from elsewhere. However I'm sure a bit of research wouldn't go amiss

Ok, I'm back from reading it now. You say:
>>Unsurprisingly, the Cliff Walk doesn’t go past Hammersmith Farm.<<
Why is this unsurprising? Is it the last building before the cliff drops down? Or is it because it was the last of these houses that was built?

It's because it belonged to JFK and is probably still in the family.

But they're no longer presidents, are they? So I'd suggest you change the sentence to: The Cliff Walk stops at Hammersmith Farm.

I've found out that Hammersmith Farm isn't owned by the Kennedy family anymore and have removed that sentence as it therefore makes no sense. A lot like me when typing this late

What do people think about the title?
I was wondering whether it didn't quite explain the subject matter, as you have to already know that these are specifically famous mansions. It might just read like 'The big houses of Rotherham', to which people might think, 'well so what, there are big houses everywhere' (even in Rotherham, which I only picked as an example because I was born there!).
Should there be another word before mansions? The famous mansions? The millionaires' mansions? A different title entirely?
Hmm...

How about 'The High Society Mansions.....'?
The owners were known as Society. If I just put that it'll look like some club or other and the phrase 'high society' is well known.

I think this is done now, as far as I'm concerned. Title sorted.
Thanks for the comment at the bottom of the Entry, Jaz'd
