This is in response to a challenge from Opti, who wanted some of the past Talking Points to be written up. I don't think I'm ready to take on the whole 1990's, but I thought I could do music...
Feel free to check through, suggest new links, or lambast me for any of your favourite bands I left out! At some point, to fit in with the music entries from other decades, we need to add the number ones for each year too.

Are you trying to cover the main boom of the 90s or the big developments in every genre?

A bit of both. What do you consider the big boom to be? I would say it was in hip-hop, grunge and probably girl and boy bands, all of which are covered.

Good, cuz I don't know anything on the topic anyhow, and nobody else here seems to either. 
I was making mud pies for most of the 90s.
