Well, I acquired a very diligent cold last week, and today I decided I was actually going to treat it by resting. So I crawled into bed with my subbing and my New Yorker books and became a productive member of society. Sort of.

Anyway, the result is that this entry is done. Really. I've said everything in here, I think, and if I haven't, I won't say it anyway, (unless it's really really good). Honest. So now it's totally open for more commentary. And please smiley - grovel give some. I hate it when nobody posts corrections.

oH, i know that somewhere in there is a 'the New Yorker' where the 'the' is lowercase and not italicized, but I can't find it. If anyone else can, I'll give them a smiley - gift

A little unsure whether you should link to my entry on the apple for it isn’t the Big Apple you are referring to.

Urbane do you mean urban?
Chatty perhaps colloquial would be a better word

I'm smiley - sorry that I offer only litle advice but I'm wary I may put a foot wrong. Gnomon is your researcher for helping you get this polished. smiley - goodluck

Thanks though. Made necessary corrections to date and link. I put in the link to 'apple' because there's a link to New York City already in the same paragraph - or else the next one. 'colloquial' is close to what I mean, but while the style was conversational, I don't think they ever let in colloquialisms like 'aint' or 'aw shucks'.

Oh, and there are two subbies subscribed to this thread, last I checked. I don't suppose either of them are at all interested in subbing the project?

Subbing the project? I could probably do that, if I had any time...

By the time it's finished, if I'm not completely snowed under with work, talk to me again.smiley - smiley

I'm going to make that weird hand wobbling gesture that means 'mmmmmmaybe' - meaning, I'd really love to do it, but I'm pencilled in for another one already. How near the stage of project page and all the rest is it now?

We-ell, it keeps growing as I learn more and more about the magazine, so while two weeks ago I would have perkily said "halfway!", I would now guess at more like 1/4. Or less.

*runs to update project page*

A13468197 - there, that says it all. (It used to be a mere five entries. Now it's ... *gulp* nine?!)

It's been stop and go, what with college work, newspaper, and subbing, so I think the finishing date of January is realistic. Many of the books I've checked out are incredibly thick, but finals usually inspire me to work very hard at almost anything else. Yes, definitely not finishing until January. smiley - biggrin
