Does anyone remember Dick Spanner, Private Eye?
It was a strange, unfunny 10 minute short animation series that I remember being on ITV on Friday nights at some ridiculous time at night (probably shortly before Raw Power). The lead character Dick ( a complete spanner) was a square jawed (like david Coulthard)private eye. The same characters were used for a series of Tennents Pilsner ads.
The supposed humour of the series, involved round sad puns. ( I loved it!!!) the P.I. would say "It was an open and shut case." and there would be a shot of a briefcase opening and shutting.
It was rather sad really.
I shouldn't have admitting to this one really, should I?

Look at some of the others you have admitted to and then tell me if it looks so bad!

yes, i remember it, and yes, I HAVE IT ON VIDEO. the case of the maltese parrot is a classic. used to be on network 7 (the birthplace of magenta devine's career, amongst other things). it's very cheesy and lots of fun for raymond chandler fans.

Can you give us some more info for a write up then? Things like who made it, year it was made and any other pertinent information.

By the way - I thought that it was fantastic. Silly at first but it got under your skin. I want to see it again.

If you're back from your holidays you need to do something about the under-representation of Gerry Anderson's products:
Aqua Marina, Stingray, Fireball XL5, Dick Spanner and more.
Classics, every one.

Wow! I didn't know there were this many people in the world who had seen DS! (The fact that there's only 4 people in this tread lends weight to my argument). I have *never* met anyone else who has seen it. Its brilliant!

So, do you know of where I can get any down-loadable DS clips?
Key: Complain about this post
