A Conversation for Irresistible Ice Creams

Ice Cream Floats!

Post 1

Rains - Wondering where time's going and why it's in so much of a hurry!

I'm surprised I haven't seen these mentioned before (smiley - sorry if they have, and I've missed it). It wasn't a proper summer for me as a kid if I didn't get to have at least a few ice cream floats as a treat.

They were never anything especially complicated - a tall glass of fizzy pop, usually lemonade but it could be cola, with a thick slab of vanilla ice cream (hacked off one of those blocks you used to be able to buy in the shops) floating in it. I used to have one of those long sundae spoons that I'd use to try and melt the ice cream into the pop even faster, so it made an ice-cold milky, vanilla-y, lemonade-y drink.

Just thinking of it brings back memories of long hot summer days spent playing with the rest of the kids on the street, playing football and kerby and all kind of other games, and all that other stuff. It all seems very idyllic now... amazing what rose-tinted specs will do!
