Apparently, according to http://www.nzicecream.org.nz/industry.htm, we Kiwis are " the highest per capita consumers of ice cream in the world!" and our 2nd favourite flavour is Hokey Pokey, which (I think) is almost unheard of elsewhere
Hokey Pokey: a sugar explosion, it's little more than caramelised sugar and 'golden syrup' with bicarbonate of soda creating light, honeycombed, crunchy nuggets - a fun chemistry experiment for kids
Anyhoo...
Once upon a time (early 90s), after a few (hot) summers in the UK, I was v pleased to find somewhere down on the Devon or maybe Cornish coast, a small seaside cafe run by a Kiwi expat, with homemade HP icecream just like at 'home'
Mmmmmmmmmmm yummmmmmmmmmmmmm
