I spent a couple of hours carefully subbing A14137661 and then returned it to the Eds. The very next day, I look back and the Entry has gone back to being just like A8658525

Antelia had simply copied from the wrong version and thereby deleted all my hard work - I had to sub it all over again, but it was all ok in the end.

Well, now! That won't do at all!

Strangely enough, no. Didn't really think it was my job to back up h2g2 in case someone breaks it.

Given the unreliability of the software and hardware a year or two back, the more experienced among us started writing entries offline (if we weren't already doing it anyway using a text editor or MaW's excellent GuidePost) so that we had our own copy should there be a problem when we hit the 'Update entry' button. If I'd been subbing an entry I'd keep a copy on my HD for sure, or send it to one of my Gmail accounts and keep it on a Google HD.

Or both.

I'm lazy.

However, I do copy text to the clipboard just before pressing the Update button - the only way I lose stuff is if someone else deletes it.
