There's not a lot of fruits covered by the EG. ON looking I found the following;

A686757 Granny Smith Apples
A536492 Bananas
A7209623 Blackberries and Brambling
A284528 The Raspberry
A593453 How to Enjoy a Mango
A71731 Blood Oranges

But there are many more delicious and strange ones that could be done like;

Lemons, Limes, Paw Paw, Lychee, Rhambutan, Star Fruit, Kiwi Fruit, Blueberry, Gooseberry, Loganberry, Figs, Quince etc.

Any one feeling fruity?

MJ smiley - ok

Bananas or not a fruit, they are a herb
"Oddly enough, the banana is neither a fruit or a vegetable, but a member of the herb family - the Musacae, a cousin of the orchid."

Papaya is also a herb, I think

Thanks for that. I'll remind all the kids I nurse that bananas are herbs. That'll help when they get asked what fruit they want with their dinners.

The challenege is to do Entries on fruit, not pick fault with the suggestion smiley - steam

What now? I'd suggest a simple footnote explaining that the PLANT is a herb, but the stuff that grows and falls off it contianing its seeds would COMMONLY be referred to as FRUIT.

Forgive my tone, just a little peeved.

I think the reference to 'phisilis' is spelt 'physalis' better know as the cape gooseberry or for ornamental purposes Chinese lantern.

"think the reference to 'phisilis' is spelt 'physalis' better know as the cape gooseberry or for ornamental purposes Chinese lantern."

I'm fairly certain it's what we used to call 'Goldenberries'. We had them growing in our garden way back.

We also had Paw-Paws, and I could swear they were much taller than 10-12 feet, but I was much smaller then.

The leaves make brilliant swords.
