STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring )

Ok, you have been warned!
.
My cat vomits its food on a regular basis, as much as once a week, due to her rushing her food ( I don't give her too much and it is the temperature of a freshly killed mouse, so right). I used to rush to clear it up but now she just eats it, yuk!
.....what I want to know is why she NEVER vomits again after she has eaten the vomited food!
I did warn you it was a gross question but what is the answer?

I don't know about cats but dogs do that a lot.

I seem to remember it has something to do with giving the enzymes in the saliva a second go at the now semi-digested food, helps break it down.

Ewwwww...

I don't mind so much when she does it and licks the varnished floor boards clean, what I can't stand is when she leaves that horrible runny sticky mucus on floor for me to clean!
I love my three legged cat to bits, but times like that make me nearly puke too!
.
I just know what is about to happen when she starts that sort of coughing noise...I guide her into the hallway, out of sight, out of mind, sort of, lol.

Ah, if you could train all dogs to eat their own poo, the world would indeed be a cleaner place!

I wonder if this is a young cat and this vomit thing goes back to a mother feeding her kittens sort of weaning them off suckling.

My dog does the same thing but I think it is because he wolfs down the food and then just brings it back as is in a neat bundle to look at later.

When my daughter was just crawling we had a cat. No on second thoughts it is just to awful to go into especially as she is now in her thirty somethings.

My cat is not far of 10 now so not young, however she is the fastest eater cat wise I have ever seen! She woofs her food down like she has never eaten a meal in her life.

This behaviour must be quite normal as I remember a friend always telling my children this disgusting little tale.

Quick Quick the cats been sick
Where? Where? under the chair
Hasten hasten fetch a basin
Too late its licked it up again.

That's a fun story to tell to children.

Have you ever noticed just how messed up most fairy tales are? Like little Red Riding hood... the part where the forester cuts the grandma out of the wolfs stomach with an ax....

Our cat does it, but doesn't re-eat it choosing rather to eat some fresh!

The worst is if he's in at night and chucks it up on the stairs. Halfway through the night a sleepy me needs the loo and has to go down stairs and bang! Treads right in it!

IK!

Blimey I forgot I had started this thread!
She still pukes her food sometimes although I have noticed that half dried and half tinned food reduces vomiting as she likes dried food less so eats it in stages later, dried food is good for teeth too.
...still can't stand that sticky clear liquid like egg whites that comes with vomit though, yuk, yuk yuk!

Your cat might have a thyroid problem if it throws up a lot. Mine did.
