A good park in Leicester is Abby Park, the downside is that it's huge, although obviously note compared to some of the ones in London. It's got a rowing lake, a river, lots of space and its own disgustingly normal public toilets. Apart from that there is a Sainsburys' and an offie not far away. It does have events on there though when they close the park and charge you to get in, one that I know of is a music day around the middle of August.
If anything materialises I'll try to come along and see my old drinking ground, you've got competition though as the Peterborough beer fest, is only forty miles away at the end of August and that's also the Reading music fest weekend.smiley - fish

Talking to my other entity, it seems that probably a better one to find would be Victoria park because it's right near the railway station. I haven't been there myself so I can't comment on what it's like except that I have been told that a lot of students laze around there all day.
I'm still trying to organise my schedule to come, but don't worry about what you may hear from ginger and them, I'll try to put my mouth down a gear and let somebody else talk for a while.smiley - fish

I know of Victoria park, in fact I'm sure I've been there before! I don't think we should be bothered by too many students there as to my knowledge they won't be around for another few weeks. I shall endevour (sp!) to have a look on Thursday to suss it out.

I think I will try to avoid the bank holiday weekend so we may push back to the first weekend in September or alternatively the weekend before. It will almost certainly be the Saturday thoughbecause trains can be a bit funny on a Sunday.

Trains are definatly a nightmare on Sundays, we went down to the rounders shindig this weekend and had to leave the house at 8.30 a.m., mind you we were traveling from Ipswich.
My other half used to be a student in Leicester and lived just up the road from Victoria park, at least I think she did, and it's her I'm getting most of this information from. She did seem to think that there would be a lot of students around at that time of the year though, I can't imagine why but then I never went to Uni myself.
As for the dates I think the first weekend in September might be better as more money tends to be available to everyone at the beginning of the month rather than at the end and you might get more people turning up. If I am able to come along I'm going to have to try and kip over somewhere as I think I was one of the first to leave London yesterday, much to the ear relief of the others I guess, they've been very sweet about it though (again guys, sorry) and I the only thing that could have made the day better would be for it to have lasted a bit longer, oh yeah and for me not to ache so much this morning.
That's really starting to get a bit long so I'll leave it now, it seems my verbal diahorria is starting to spill over into my typing.smiley - fish

Due to unforseen and serious family problems, I'm afraid I won't be able to make it either. Sorry everyone.
