Sorry I'm late. Ripping thread. Pluto is the God of the Underworld. Charon is the ferryman who bought the dead across the river Styx. So a good name for the mysterious unseen planet could be Black Hand. As for celebrations on 31/12/99. Come on down to NZ. See the sunrise, it will be mid-summer here, 12 hours earlier than your friends and brag about it for the rest of your lives

Does that mean that NZ will be the first to go if the Y2Chaos bug stikes at the sound of the first second?
NZ is a dream place of mine! Maybe it is the PLACE to at the Milli

And as far as the southern hemisphere is concerned. "Pluto rules" as a planet. Possibly a more interesting planet than mere northerners realise. We observe it from a different angle.

Thank you for the interest Looney..and the support. Of course I know the connection with the underworld...and am pleased to hear that Pluto is highly regarded in NZ Perhaps I should re-title this page *Who pays the Ferryman* and see if there is anymore response from downunder!Keep the messages going

Astrologically speaking, Pluto is one powerful little planet. It rules things that are hidden, such as roots and caves and foundations.
It is the planet of sex, death and the occult and rules Scorpio, the scorpion, eagle and phoenix all in one.
I reckon Pluto can look after itself.

I guess that you maybe correct in the mythical way of things..but it STILL doesn't deserve being declassified!!ps..where are the *lets all entertain ourselves with cool quotes* brigade tonight!!

Going back to astrology, astrologers maintain that there are a further TWO planets yet to be discovered. The ruler of Taurus and the ruler of one of the other signs (can't remember). As far as astrologers are concerned, Pluto will always remain a planet.
Maybe there should be a big free-for-all wrestling match between the astrologers and the astronomers, to sort it out once and for all.
Or a duel.
With sledgehammers.

Ah yes..the eternal question...who knows best ..the astrologer or the astronomer!!When it comes down to it I think that a duel would be entirely appropriate...but "sledghammers*?!Surely phasers at dawn

The man in the shack Posted Jul 21, 1999
No, something less accurate, and far messier. How about arquebuses at dawn?
