It's not a bug - it's just the way it works. If you look left you will see dashed blue lines connecting the replies. Cunning huh?

yes..but if you reply to a certain strand...it should fire in at that point...surely????

It's probably something techie to do with the way the threads are stored, pointers and stuff. It does make it easier to go to the end of a thread and see the latest entries though, otherwise you would have to scan the entire thread for newer entries.

Yes...but they do slip in all over the place if you're not careful!!

Yeah, i noticed that. I'm never sure whether to reply to what someone's said halfway through a thread, in case it comes out at the bottom, and i'm kicked off for making no sense, like on that flippin chatroom. Even if i got it there, i don't suppose anyone would notice it, but by the time i get to the bottom, the subject's changed, and i'm always nervous about floggingt a dead horse.
O woe is me!

By the B, I always seem to be running int Shazzy Shef and the Man In the Shaq. What's up, welschmen. I like welsh people. I don't know why. The english (yours Tly born in hackney, geordie dad, persian mum, living in london, but spent a couple of years in El Salvador) are dull as a doorknob factory's picket line on a cold day. The Irish are so nice it's spookly, and seem to have no personality whatsoever. The scottish are all nuts, and they're a great laugh, And The welsch are charismatic and passionate.
Pluto rocks. Keep it. I'm gonna Make a petition thing on this site, both to keep pluto, and to search for names for planet '?'.

Going back a few postings. I have always found if you want to answer an earlier posting, do as I have done now. Refer back to it and post it at the end. That way people can keep thread of the whole thing. vegiman

And just how can you "Fall down" a balck hole Veggie??Unless I'm terribly mistaken you can get sucked into one..or is that another thread entirely? I still await the powers that be to approve my entry..then maybe we can get this campaign up & running for real! If not it'll have to be back to the drawing board and put a general appeal on the www...I'm certainly getting into this site-building lark

In reply to Bugsy...I'm afraid I only have a smidgeon of Welsh in me...(no rude thoughts on that comment please!).I've always found Gaelic names & places fascinating...see my entry on "Beaches".How about "Betwys-y-Coed(sp?)for a Planet name! Trips of the tongue fairly well..although it could be mistaken for a little seaside corner shop instead..now there's an interesting thought

Hello again Bugsy, how's your first day at h2g2 been? You're certainly finding your way around.
I too am a Londoner and have lived here all my life (except for 5 months in western Ireland). My mum's Welsh, my Dad's Danish (no jokes about Taffy the Viking, please), and I'm Camberwellian (you know, the place where the carrot comes from).I don't think I'd qualify as a Welshman, but I don't feel totally English either.
As for other Londoners, my 4 oldest friends are from London, but everyone else I meet and become friends with seems to come from anywhere but.
I don't know why this is. When I've been travelling, all other Londoners I've met have been amazingly nice and friendly.
Maybe this has something to do with the city itself, being so large and overcrowded. We've got a bad name in certain places, but overall I think we're a pretty ok bunch.
Catch you later.

Hiya!
Going back a bit to your liking of gaelic names and places, have you ever been to the Scottish Highlands? The names of the mountains are far out!

Mull is somewhere I've been wanting to go to for YEARS. I feel drawn to the place like a magnet and I don't know why. Some pals of mine lived there for a year in a caravan and they loved it. I tried to go once and stopped off at my sisters place in East Lothian for a bit.
But when I was there my foot started to swell up and I was in agony.
The doctor said it was an arthritic complaint (at my age!) and there was to be no walking and absolutly no hiking over Mull with a big back-pack. Boo-hoo!
I've been to Skye twice though. The place is distilled magic. When I first went there it felt like I'd gone through the veil into the otherworld. I spent a week trekking through the cuillins and climbed bla bheinn (blaa-ven), my favorite mountain.
How comes you're lucky enough to spend so much time in the hebrides then?

You know what they say about teachers...too much holiday LOL
I haven't been for a couple of years..but it is sheer magic If you ever go..take the scenic way over.(if you have a car that is)travel via Ardnamurchan & take the Fishnish/Lochaline ferry.A) Its much cheaper then the Oban route and B) the scenery is amazing!I always camp out on Calgary beach..unless things have changed it's free
The closest village is a brisk walk away, the Belachroy pub is THE place to go for good food, beer & company. They also have excellent Ciedleighs there(sp!!!)

Have you been anywhere else in the highlands and islands? Or the southern uplands? Which are just as beautiful in their own way with the added bonus of being free of the crowds.

If you like beaches, check this one out. Sandwood bay, Sutherland.
It's right up in the extreme north west part of Scotland. To get there is an epic drive, but dramatic in the extreme. You then leave the car and walk for about an hour across high moorland studded with lochs, cos no roads go to the beach. The bay is a mile long sweep of sand with atlantic breakers crashing down. Totally deserted and pristine. There's the added bonus of a bothy which you can stay in for free. Great place to have a major chill-out or to surf. I'm writing this here instead of the beach guide entry cos not many people know about this place and it would be a shame to spoil it.
