Very interesting entry, MTRF!
One query - what or where is Chubut? I've read the entry three times and I've only seen reference to it in the last sentence.
Are there any relevant websites to link to?

Hi!
Thanks for the kind words
I have a few links but wasn't sure of the protocol regarding non-bbc websites.
I have also changed the text slightly ...
... what do you think?

No problem with non-BBC sites as long as they're not overtly commercial or unsuitable for children and they are written in English.
The rewording works.
Is this a typo 'howeland'? Should it read 'homeland'?

As someone who is doomed to watch Welsh TV due to the proximity of a telecommunications mast i am surprisingly familiar with these people, for an Englishman anyway. As a typo shouldn't it be "lost faith and moved to Canada" rather than "lose faith"? I have seen pictures of this area and it does look bleak and windswept, but you couldn't help but notice the sheep! They seem to have taken this form of farming with them, it would be interesting to know if they used sheep they brought with them or whether they had to use a hybrid or indigenous breed. Good stuff tho'.

Hi third man!
Thanks for your coments too - even though you had to bring up the sheep
I've changed the typo and will do some research re. the livestock.

I know the BBC supports the Welsh language. It's a pity, though that the links will be understood by very few people (OK there are bits in English if you look *very* carefully!).

I think the vast majority of links will be in Welsh or Spanish just because of the very nature of the subject.

I don't think 'foreign language' links are allowed, which means that the Welsh ones may stand, but Spanish ones wouldn't.

It's ironic, one of the main reasons they left was to preserve their language and now one of the impediments to getting their story over is....language

So I see! (And 'that would be champion' comes from my neck of the woods as well (I come from one of the Northern football club towns) - I didn't know it was in common use in Wales!

In what way have you crossed swords with CEFN third man?

Part of my area is North and Mid-Wales. Now I know we are supposed to provide a bi-lingual service and I had all my literature translated by our centre in Bangor. I had the cards and letters all translated into Welsh, the exact translation depending on who did it. However, this was not good enough for CEFN. They will speak only Welsh and so would not contact me, they used to wrote straight to the regulator (in Welsh of course) and threatened me with the National Assembly, prison etc. They used to use words like incompetent, not good enough etc. I suppose it looked more elegant in Welsh.
I always suspected that they wanted my job to go to a Welsh speaker in Wales. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough work to justify a whole job. The majority of my work was the North West of England. They won in the end tho', the job was centralised in Chesterfield with an expensive outpost in Bangor
