I'm not a Scout - so make sure you heed their advice rather than mine, but I'd say this is a must-have for the EG.
The way it's told is straightforward and yet gripping. The summing up at the end, pros and cons of the case and the fate of the protagonists finishes it particularly well.
There are a few little typos (Slidell's birthdate for example) but all in all this is really good.
(Great choice of subject, too!)
