It was soooooooooooooooooo good! But what about Captain Planet? Surely better than turtles or power rangers?
Knightmare!
[...] Posted Aug 22, 2003
No the Turtles were far superior to Captain 'Oh my weakness is what I'm fighting" Planet!

No, it was so good. And it had really high-class people doing the voices as well, who have temporarily slipped my mind.
Okay, have looked up, and found Whoopi Goldberg, Jeff Goldblum, Meg Ryan, STING(!) How can you complain about anything that had Sting in it?
But did anyone else feel sorry for the kid whose power was 'heart'? I mean, earth, fire, wind, water you can cause earthquakes and fires and hurricanes and tidal waves/storms, but what can the heart kid do?

Bad with Sting in: 'Brimstone and Treacle'.
Sting plays the Devil incarnate and rapes a girl who was mentally and physically paralysed from being hit by a lorry....
As for Captain Planet... I used to watch it, but when you think back...
If he had oil splashed on him he was useless... and apart from the death of the rainforsets, oil spills were his biggest 'foes'...
And he could only be called upon by all five kids with rings... bit of a weakness there...
Imagine if in Lord of the Rings, the 'One Ring' could only be destroyed in the volcanoe by all the members of the Fellowship being present?
And the heart... Heart?! What is that... Wasn't it usually only used to clean Cap. Planet?
Oh the flashbacks....
'Earth! Fire! Wind! Water! ...HEART!'

of course it's silly, how could it not be? it was an educational tv programme passed off as a cartoon. the funny thing is that we watched it voluntarily.

I didn't... I was brainwashed from that horrible blue skin, green hair, red suit combo...

Y'know, I'm in Brunel, and yet I still typed the code for that smiley, instead of clicking for it. Does that signify something, like I'm practically a veteran now?
Knightmare!
Catwoman Posted Aug 30, 2003
Sorry. Long-winded explanation coming up.
H2g2 has a couple of different 'skins', meaning the whole website looks a bit different, although the content is the same. In Brunel, when you're posting to a conversation there's a load of buttons below the blank space that you type in, that insert smileys. But I typed < smiley > or whatever (without the spaces) to make it, instead of clicking on the button. This is partly because I was here before Brunel was. So I must have been here a very long time.

Not really!
The first series, when I re-watched it was pretty terrible...
However, I was a bit devastated when I was told by my sister's boyfriend, whom was on it, that it was fixed... or at least the first few series were...
Knightmare!
Catwoman Posted Sep 2, 2003
Fixed? No!
The one thing about watching it now is how slow the kids all are. maybe it's having read a couple of fantasy books or just having lived a bit longer, but so many things seem obvious to do - use flattery to get what you want - decide beforehand how you're going to use directions like 'left' and 'right' - make sure the walker is the dumbest member of the group, but not so dumb that they don't know their left from their right.

Most didn't flatter but asked nicely... or flogged of a bottle of something...

Catwoman Posted Sep 2, 2003
I woinder what would happen if the kid did something undexpected, like throw stuff at the goblin/troll/thing instead of walking away quickly. Quick break for tea, biscuits, and script writing?

'Hello! I'm Mottley! What's--'
'D-I-S-P-E-L Dispel!'
'What are you??---EEEEEEeeeeeee!!!!'
Or...
'Watch yourself on that ledge...'
*shove*
'Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...!'

Course it would be hard to physically fight with charcters that you couldn't see. But yeah, why not? It's be fun! Everyone took it so seriously when the skin started to peel away from the skull.
Knightmare!
[...] Posted Sep 3, 2003
When everyone knows that it's when the skull peels away is when to panic!
