A Conversation for Blob search
More!!!
Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Aug 21, 2003
I would have added more if it wasn't for the ing viruses attacks we've been having in Sweden for the last two days - lots and lots of big companies and servers affected...
But I will continue searching!

OK, checked up to B8000
If somebody would have some spare time to spend online, you'll find a link to a tool for searching for blobbed pictures in the Guide-ML of this entry...
Anyone who'd like to help out, post the intervals you've checked here

Traveller in Time on his head seeing the world in Blue and white
"Watching your Personal Space found a bug. As it (was) not serious and giving just the desired effect I ignored it.
However, scanning for Blobs is my current occupation, just follow my recent Guide entries to get the numbers."
Nephew Who programming an offline script
"One of the wierd gags in a scanner is I can not fit more then say 95 nonexisting (or some 100 existing) images in one window.
I write html pages using a long list of images
...
Oh yes I do not keep track of pages I have scanned.
I can tell you the current last image seems to be <./>B4858881</.>."

Eh - not sure what you mean, Traveller in time...
I checked among your most recent entries, but the only images I found were basically smilies...
I'm trawling through all the blob numbers in order to find the pictures that aren't listed in the h2g2 picture library - and only giving a link rather than inserting the image itself makes the entry load much faster.
At a later stage (if I've got the time and the patience) I might add short descriptions of each picture to my list

Traveller in Time on his head
"That is just what we are doing, scanning all possible images on the servers. Have a close look at < A2153567 > to see some nowhere mentioned images. At least I have them right down from the server not from a known probably ancient page. As with < A2118656 > by the way, half of the trees is not published!"
More coming, ok one little list

Traveller in Time tittering on his head
" Says your Xmas trees are still buggy, perhaps read the paragraph about using blue and white images in 'Blob Library' < A2153567 >.
Ok where were we, about scanning Blobs, trust me we are just trying to help. How about Mr Douglas presenting his glossy HHTTGG book (still one not collected by a prize winner) B26848 Big B26904 Small
Oh yes, I will not use a link to the Blob self too often as digibox users will have to reset there system to get away again (they do not have a back option).
Or the premature baby in an incubator B26883 But perhaps you are more interested in the happy couple who just got a lava lamp B27540. And not to forget probably the first image of a meeting at B30055 (at least one familair face from the other images).
I stopped this linear scanning (very few percent pictures missed?) while it is really boring when I reached the dry mouth at B41772, this is the first of a group Blobs ranging to B41785.
Now I need to get a coffee again to wash away the sand <?>.
My goal is to create entries containing eventually all images, but each entry sorted in another way. A maximum of about twenty images per page if the images are less then tenthousand byte. I will not publish the Wowbagger cartoon.BMP with almost a megabyte. Neither will I publish the bad images from The Post last week of november 2001."

Traveller in Time on his head
"I stated before the bug is minor while the desired effect is reached this way. There is nothing wrong in the display it is just your naming of the trees that is buggy. You could have called them B220882xmastrees or B220882blue or B220882orange, except for the blue they are all buggy. Lucky for us Jim made the Picture recognition routines flexile enough to get away with anything resulting in blue (dark background). So you have a bug (as with most of my entries) but it does not display wrong."

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Dec 30, 2003
Oh, now I think I understand what you mean - but what other way is there to display the Goo (or classic) version of a blobbed picture? Because of the dark green background I don't want people to see it in the Alabaster/Brunel version, because it'll usually end up looking a bit 'furry'

Tell nephew that that entry is a too bit flashing and colourful to be accessed without being noticed while at w*rk!
Wouldn't it have been easier to just say 'try using the IMG SRC instead of the PICTURE BLOB tag'?

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Dec 30, 2003
Come to think of it - wasn't the IMG SRC code in danger of being removed in some update or other? Do you remember the details, Ottox?
Maybe that's why Jim made the PICTURE BLOB tag work too - but if it doesn't display wrong, then how did you notice, Traveller in Time?

Traveller in Time dancing on his head
"It would have been much more easy, but it is even more complicated then I thought.
to let the servers sort out what background to use. Useful when used between text on a plain or transparent background.
to force a blue background (the buggy version).
Now I have learned also, I should try to use the Picture tag some more to see what
results in.
To be honest I hardly have used anything but
while I nearly always use style, mapping or other attributes not compatible with the Picture tag.
Switch off Tools/Options/Accessibility/background colours at work to keep the pages plain."
