The Language Thing has rather died in recent months, I'm afraid. I'm theoretically the head of the Latin Department, but it hasn't seen a post in months. I also speak a bit of French, though, so if you ever feel like coming over to the Latin Department or to my Personal Space and chatting, be my guest!

It's actually Nota Bene, and it means "note well", i.e. make sure you take note of this!

i.e. is also Latin, by the way - id est = that is.

Just a quick apology that I don't have a lot of time to be here these days, and of course Kat has left us too, which puts us in something of a limbo state. You're all being wonderful in providing a welcome and helping out etc, and I'm hoping to sort something out at some point so that some sort of normal service can resume. Hi folks, on the things you might need to know bit, I am fifty years old, maybe not the quickest of scholar's but have a great deal of determination and have to date never failed to achieve my goals. I went to secondary modern in blackpool and left to make my way in the world at the tender age of fifteen. I am looking forward to learning somthing of value in my declining years (catch up on all that lost schooling pehaps) hope to hear back. Lynn.
