its not an accepted jedi trick... its just common practice 
ok then, I'm not too overjoyed about trying lightsabers in a small ship in the vacume of space
so we'll try the other stuff instead

well if you will both bare in mind that i have never been trained in the academy I will attempt to train both of you to reasonably accseptable standereds
although if i teach you something i shouldnt.... just trust me when i tell you it wont impress the masters
