One new transfer this week - Egon has signed Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Congratulations to GreyDesk, who goes top after a big week. BlueBrasilian gets his first points too, bringing him within range of [andy]g. Meanwhile Psycorp comes within touching distance of the pack, and Brad Friedel continues his reputation as 'Stupid Purchase of the Season'
More importantly - it's the cup Semi Finals this weekend, and let's see those scores:
Players with Nice Names (Odo) 10-8 Hardly Athletic (Otto)
The Ghost of Peter Reid FC (Friddle) 6-22 Apple Juice ('Desk)
So, next week's final will pit 'Players With Nice Names' against 'Apple Juice'. The winner takes away a cool £15m, the loser £5m. Best of luck to both teams.

can I just check something- did you mistype something, or did Friddle actually pay EIGHTEEN MILLION for Brad Friedel?

Quick rules question....
If a defender gets subbed at half time when their team has conceded one goal, does that defender earn negative points for goals conceded in the second half when they're no longer on the pitch? The main page says that defenders earn points when they've played more than 45 minutes...

I'm within touching distance of the pack? I might break away from my coveted bottom (of the original members) spot?
I'm so happy!

I wish I could say there was a decimal point missing but I cant. My only defense (literally it seems) is a slight misunderstanding of the game at the start of the season and a misplaced faith in Mr F.

Yes, Friddle really did bid that much for Brad Friedel. Probably because he's got the same name.
Otto - your query is a good'un. I suspect it may have happened to one of your players this weekend, which is why you're querying it. Nominally, of course, I would not deduct a player points for goals scored while he is off the pitch, but in the realities of updating all the scores on a Sunday night, I am more likely to overlook this sort of thing.
As ever, I never claim to be infallible with the maths and will happily correct any (justifiable!) grievances.

Yeah - Silvestre was subbed at half time with the score at 1 - 1.

This would give me an extra two points, which would make it 10 - 10 in the cup game against Odo.
The main page says:
"Each goal conceded after the first (GK and Defence)-1"
"footnote: When playing more than 45 minutes of the match."
This could be interpreted either way, and I don't want to get all rules-lawyery over 2 points when it's supposed to be a bit of fun , so I'm happy to accept your Chairpersonly ruling either way. I'm going to win the league anyway .

I'll tell you what, I'll award you the extra two points, but I'm still giving the cup tie to Odo, because
a) Silvestre's performance was woeful, and
b) She's my girlfriend (Odo, not Silvestre)
How about that?

Tell you what Egon, you can have him for the bargain basement price of £10m. Cheap as chips........you might say

I knew there was a reason why I bid so much for Bert Froodle
F131768 Post #8 Re tied bids etc -
"Same as before, by email with your second round of bids. You don't have to exceed your first bid for the player, or you can drop him altogether and bid for someone else, in which case your opposition gets him at the tied price. - B"
I figured that having tied with UH, each bidding 5M, I could bid silly money and only pay as much as either UH's second bid or the original tied bid.

I'm at a loss to think of any circumstances where an auctioneer would let you buy something for less than what you bid.
