I don't say this often enough I'm afraid, but I do enjoy the editorials very much.
Thanks to today's editorial, I even knew what pheloxi was on about in his latest journal,so thank you shazzprme, for being informative and educational

Continuing the dutch political story . . .
Verdonk got a distrust proposal, she was asked to leave the government by D66. Her party VVD was against it in the meeting during last night.
Eventually D66 left the government, and today their ministers left.
This afternoon Prime Minister Balkenende spoke for the government that they all will step down. Tomorrow he will speak to the queen.
New elections expected later this year.

For some reason h2g2 was offline for me over quite a few hours last night so I was tuned in to the live coverage of the political debate. It just seemed a good idea to report what I understood of the causes - and effects.

TM said 3 days ago that this row could lead to the fall of the coalition government and he was right!

This isn't the first time Verdonk has caused ripples. She was sleighted earlier in the year for deporting a bright, intelligent, Dutch-speaking Kosovan refugee just before she was due to take important exams. I don't think the public were very happy about her attempts to block Ivory Coast footballer Salomon Kalou's application for citizenship either...
