Two pieces of eavesdropped nonsense. Seemed like the right day for them.

Excellent - A lovely read, and so true to life.

I particularly like the first one. It conjures up a really amusing scene. The second one becomes more surreal as it goes on. You have a really good ear for dialogue.

Cheers all, I'm glad you liked them . It's embarrassing, but ... I Lidls.
The second one is more or less true as far as the veggies but after that it felt conspicuous to hang around, so I had to overtake and imagine how it might have gone on between the pair of them.

I love this stuff. I always try and travel with a notebook, note down the best conversations.
I recently bought a whole book of them in a sale - called something like conversations on the TGV (it was in French).
There's nowt as queer as folk.

Congratulations, or perhaps commiserations. Because although this entry is another of June's <./>underguide</.> selections, enormously regrettably the BBC cannot appear to advertise Lidls (however much this delightful mini-supermarket full of wonderful things might deserve it) on h2g2's Front Page.
Lidls devotees should not feel affronted however, Harrods has been similarly excised from Front Page mentioning in the past. There is further consolation in the fact that there has never been a need, and there's never likely to be a need, to treat Tesco in such a manner.
to Lidl!
