A few words on slays..........

Slays affect the DAMAGE DONE NOT THE BONUS. for example a short sword of slay orc (1d7) (+3,+3) does (1d7*3)+3 damage against orcs and 1d7+3 against everything else. Slay orc is useful at low levels.

Slay Evil, Animal: x2 damage dice
Slay Undead, Demon, Giant, Dragon: x3 damage dice
*Slay* Dragon: x5 damage dice

of fire, ice, lightening, acid etc. all do x2 to ceatures not resistant to that attack.

Lots of attacks.......

If your STR and DEX are above 18 then go find yourself a whip. Look at your character sheet. It'll say "Blows x/turn" thats not what tracy thinks it is, i know shes grinning just now, it how many times you hit per turn. If its more than one then you should enchant the whip a fair bit. whips are all 1d3 so they need a lot on enchanting, although if you get extra attacks and a slay its godly.

Crossbow or Longbow?..........

Crossbows and long bowsare two of the finest weapons a warrior can have. proper bonuses on either and one hit kills to many monsters can happen. But, which is better? To be honest?
The crossbow is, but it has the draw back of the much larger wieght. It comes in x3 (light) and x4 (heavy) with bolts being upwards of 1d4 (normally 1d5).
For the poorer warrior or for magic user with low STR the bow is perfect. Wieght a fair bit less than the crossbow (and arrows being 0.2 with bolts 0.3) it comes as x2 (short) and x3 (long) they can still pack a punch. Short bows allow high DEX and STR users to fire more than once a turn, but at x2 its pittyful against most highrange creatures.

Why I like Phase Door.......

Phase door mana = 2 range = 10 ok, not a major run away tactic, but its not meant to be. In a big room with one high level monster? Got a bow and arrows? They got big bonuses? Shoot the monster, shoot the monster. hes too close? phase door. and repeat. the mana cost of 2 means that you can keep this up as long as you have arrows pretty much.
