A Conversation for The h2g2 Angband gathering

From a recent addict to ZAngband.
It's all Ictoan's fault, he MADE me play it!
Anyway, I seem to have cracked the begining of the game after a few weeks of death and misery.
I'm currently running Rog the Gnomish Mage who is level 22 (nearly 23) and specialises in Chaos and Sorcery magic.
This is the first charcter I've had who's managed to clear out the intial 15 level town dungeon, explore the world (six towns at least) and is now in Wilderness dungeon 1.
This has take 3 weekends so far and is ongoing, must be around 10-12 hours of game play so far. And I thought Nethack took bloddy ages to completer!
*wonders if anyone is still subscribed around here*

Hello!
I haven't played Angband for a while as I've been too engrossed in WoW - it goes from one addiction to another in here!

What's WoW? Is it another Roguelike?
Yes, I had a pretty serious Nethack addiction for several years but completing it in the end helped relieve that. I reckon ZAngband is *much* bigger and tougher to complete so it could be worse
Mind you, my Nethack skills seems to be somewhat handy (although there are major differences). I don't go around reading scrolls or quaffing potions until I know *exactly* what they are. This is a good survival skill...

Nope, not until I looked it up yesterday anyway
Daren't go for those things, have too much real life stuff to do. I bought the software foe Everquest once and never made it past their training scheme.
Can't get online at home during the week atm anyway, will have to keep hassling my landlord on that one.
Key: Complain about this post
