This is an article I wrote in a couple of hours this morning - what do you all think?

Uggh, I hate that site now, though I remember it in great detail...

I think that this entry would do well to add some links and descriptions of games. And guilds, Ooh, you forgot the all important guild.

Okay, will add something on the guilds. what sort of explanation of the games? i can't mention them all, there's hundreds!

Some of the most popular ones, the only one I liked was bumper cars...

Thing is, everyone likes different games, and if I highlight just a few then people won't get a true idea of the variety on the site. I think I've said enough about the games, and if people want to know more they can go on the site.

This looks like a very clear and readable guide to the whole phenomenon. There are a few things you might write a little bit about:

The commercial background - if using the Neopets site is free, how does the company make its money? Is there a lot of commercial merchandise available in shops?

The age range being aimed at - even if it still appeals to college students , I assume it's basically aimed at kids. So if parents are checking up, a reassurance that this site is a very safe place for pre-teens would be helpful.

And finally, do you have to put one of those 'Neopets is a trademark of the Neopets Corporation' warnings in the entry?

Good Entry . I haven't tried the links yet, but I think you've given a good idea of what to expect. Not that I have time to adopt a neopet myself - as you suggest h2g2 can take up quite enough time.

Is this a spin-off of Pokemon? Maybe saying how it differs from the Pokemon idea, would be worthwhile?

trademark?: Maybe a google search on copyright and neopet might turn up something.

I really don't think Pokemon needs mentioning as I don't think it really has anything to do with it - I've played both and this is the first time I've ever contemplated a link between them.

I like the new bits in the introduction - that kind of infromation on suitability was exactly what I was thinking of.

Googling on Neopet Legal Team, or Neopet trademark, turns up all kinds of fascinating 'cease and desist' warnings. But they all seem to be directed at people who were selling copycat merchandise, or asking for PayPal payments, or giving cheat codes. So I don't think there would be any problem with this entry.

You might check with Anna or Sam or Ashley when they're back in the office, just in case.

Would the trademark/copywrite thing get put in by the editors anyway? Or is it something I need to sort out before it goes to the editors?

As someone who has wide-ranging ignorance of many things (having 'played' neither) I'd say that your description of Neopets struck me at least, as being very similar to what little I know about Pokemon (ie children training cute cartoon pets to compete against each other).

I don't think I would be alone in making this apparently erroneous connection, so I would argue there is a value in at least mentioning why there is no real link between them.

Possibly you could provide a link to one (or both) of the Edited entries on Pokemon in a final section on Links to other sites, with your own caveat that 'although apparently similar on the surface, Neopets provides a wholely different experience from Pokemon'
